Temenos awards celebrate North Asian banking innovation

Customer awards recognize banks leading the way in modernization and transformation

Held in Hong Kong on 11 September, the Temenos Regional Forum 2024: North Asia brought together over 150 APAC banking professionals to discuss the future of banking for Asia Pacific.

As well as looking at key trends and opportunities in the market, the event celebrated banks from around the region who are leading the way in modernization, transformation and innovation with the following awards.

Core Transformation Award – MUFG Bank

MUFG is one of the world’s largest financial groups with presence in more than 40 markets globally. Headquartered in Japan, MUFG has been on a transformation journey with Temenos since 2020 to implement the latest core banking and payments technology for its overseas branches including Hong Kong.

Digital Transformation Award – O-Bank

Originally founded as Industrial Bank of Taiwan in 1999, O-Bank became the first digital bank in Taiwan in 2017. Leveraging Temenos core banking, O-Bank was able to launch its retail business within a year and can now deploy innovative new banking products in a matter of days. With a digital-first approach, the bank provides a superior customer service and maintains a human connection with its unique branding.

Banking Innovation Award – WeLab

WeLab, a leading pan-Asian fintech platform, has over 65 million users in Asia. It offers a comprehensive suite of digital financial services, including consumer financing, enterprise technology solutions, and digital banking – encompassing savings, payments, loans, and wealth management. Currently, WeLab is operating two successful digital banks in Hong Kong (WeLab Bank) and Indonesia (Bank Saqu).

Customer Experience Award – Bank SinoPac

Based in Taiwan, Bank SinoPac serves individual and corporate clients with operations in China, Hong Kong, Macao, Vietnam, and the United States. The bank has a strong focus on digital innovation, having launched an integrated digital account called DAWHO, a robot advisor, ibrAin, and an app for payments and credit card management, DACARD, in recent years.

Banking Scalability Award – E.SUN Bank

E.SUN has long dedicated itself to prudent management, exceptional services, and a professional corporate image, elevating the financial and service industries in Taiwan. The bank has been a Temenos client since 2014, using Temenos’ scalable core banking platform to expand its footprint across nine countries and territories including Mainland China, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Japan, Singapore, Australia and the US.
