Europe Diversity Month
At Temenos, integrity and authenticity has been key to our culture of TEMENOSITY. We believe our culture is key to our success, and that we should demonstrate its principles at every opportunity.
At the beginning of this year, a group of us got together to discuss promoting diversity, equity and inclusion at Temenos. We looked at different activities that could help foster an ‘everyday inclusion’ culture in our company.
One of the initiatives we decided would help to achieve this was joining the European Commission in celebrating #EUDiversityMonth in May. We saw it as a significant opportunity to celebrate people from all backgrounds, belief, gender, abilities and/or sexuality.
The data shows there are challenges to overcome. According to the ‘Second European Union Minorities and Discrimination Survey’, people feel discriminated based on their ethnic origin when accessing – work (29%), housing (23%), education (12%), goods & services (22%).
“Workplace diversity needs to be one of the top priorities for any employer in Europe.” Says the European Commission. “We need to create inclusive environments where employees can be themselves, where they are valued for their differences and everyone’s talents are fully used. Although promoting diversity and creating inclusive workplaces is an ongoing work, participating in the European Diversity Month this May is a fantastic opportunity to make your efforts visible.”
We couldn’t agree more. At Temenos, integrity and authenticity has been key to our culture of TEMENOSITY. We believe our culture is key to our success, and that we should demonstrate its principles at every opportunity.
During May, European Temenosians discussed the importance of diversity in our ‘affinity group’ meetings. Their insights were amplified through social media posts showing solidarity around the theme ‘United in Diversity’. You can see some of these below.
Together we reached more than 30,000 people with our posts and generated 541 likes. Thanks to all our colleages who took part. We’re really proud of your achievement, and we hope that EU Diversity month marks another significant step forward towards a fairer, and more inclusive society.
