Temenos awards celebrate banking innovation in ASEAN
Customer awards recognize the leaders and visionaries in Southeast Asian banking
Held in Jakarta, Indonesia on 27 and 28 August, the Temenos Regional Forum 2024: ASEAN brought together over 200 banking professionals to discuss the future of the industry in Asia Pacific.
As well as looking at key trends and opportunities in the market, the event celebrated banks from around the region who are leading the way in modernization, transformation and innovation with the following awards.
Banking Modernization Award – Bank Syariah Indonesia
Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) is one of the largest Islamic banks in the country, with a vision to be a top 10 global Islamic bank serving over 20 million customers. The bank has been using Temenos core banking for 12 years and has now undertaken a project to upgrade to the latest version with reconfiguration on the latest software modules.
Core Transformation Award – LOLC Cambodia
Awarded to LOLC Cambodia in recognition of executing one of the most complex Temenos core banking upgrade projects in the Asia Pacific region, remaining on schedule with 85% project completion, and maintaining a minimum number of issues.
LOLC Cambodia is one of the largest and most prominent microfinance institutions in the country, helping underserved communities access affordable financial services. It offers a wide range of financial services, including microloans, SME loans, and savings products, primarily targeting low-income individuals and small businesses. LOLC is undergoing a major transformation to support its evolution from a microfinance institution to the next level of financial institution.
Customer Experience Award – City Savings Bank, Philippines
City Savings Bank, a subsidiary of Union Bank of the Philippines, is one of the country’s largest thrift banks, with more than 140 branches nationwide. Known for its emphasis on simple and straightforward banking, City Savings Bank has introduced several innovative solutions in recent years to deliver an enhanced customer experience. These include a 24/7 chatbot called “Talk to Maria”, as well as a mobile app that gives schoolteachers fast access to their accounts and the ability to apply for loans online.
Digital Transformation Award – Affin Bank, Malaysia
Affin Bank provides a range of financial services to both retail and corporate customers in Malaysia, with a vision to be the most creative and innovative financial company in the country. Integrating Temenos Digital, in partnership with Aspire, across multiple business areas has fundamentally changed the bank’s operations, with significantly improved customer experiences and increased operational efficiency.
Banking Innovation Award – Banco Nacional de Comercio de Timor-Leste
Banco Nacional de Comercio de Timor-Leste (BNCTL) is the country’s largest bank and a major provider of microfinance solutions. A Temenos customer since 2016, BNCTL is now upgrading to the latest version of Temenos’ inclusive banking solution and also aspires to deploy the latest digital channels to expand its business and serve existing clients more effectively.
Banking Visionary Award – East West Bank, Philippines
East West Bank (EWB) is a full-service universal bank in the Philippines, with an array of industry-leading products and a commitment to innovation. The bank has already received several awards for its services, including payments initiatives and mobile banking. EWB is now undertaking a transformation project to modernize its core architecture in the cloud and improve business processes as it seeks to further increase customer satisfaction.
